Vreeland
is above all remembered as the high priestess of 20th century
style and taste- a position she created as editor of both
HARPER'S BAZAAR and VOGUE MAGAZINE, and later director of
the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Here
at Gallaghers you will find the actual magazines Vreeland
edited (going back to her beginning at Harper's Bazaar in
1938), magazines Vreeland appeared in, as well as many of
VREELAND'S books, including her monument to style ALLURE,
her eccentric autobiography D.V., her massive tome HOLLYWOOD
COSTUME, and INVENTIVE PARIS CLOTHES, a collaboration with
Irving Penn.
A selection of vintage photographs of Vreeland are also available. |
